Containing only creme de menthe, kahlua and cream, it is super simple to mix. Also one of our favorite holiday theme drinks that we love serving!

We usually reserve these Thin Mint White Russians for the holidays because of the flavor, but they are good all year long and they taste almost like your favorite Girl Scout cookies!

We love fun and flavorful drinks around here, favorites include this Hot Buttered Rum, Creamy Root Beer Rum co*cktail as well as these Espresso Martinis!

All of these drinks are perfect for this time of year but also work all year round as well. I don’t really say that any drink is time specific because I mean you can love something and have it whenever.

WHAT IS KAHLUA?

Kahlua is a coffee flavored liqueur that is used in drinks such as these. Other coffee flavored liquors that you could use include Tia Maria or even Bailey’s if needed.

We like Kaluha for this recipe because it adds just the right amount of sweetness that we love in a typical Whit Russian.

You can also serve this drink a lot of different ways. I have seen people serve there White Russian Recipe with scoop some ice cream in it to give it it a little more depth of flavor and substance.

That would be totally something I would do but I would use some coffee flavored ice cream or in this case maybe some mint chip if I were to do that, it would be absolutely delicious.

WHAT IS IN A CLASSIC WHITE RUSSIAN?

The only difference between this Thin Mint White Russian Recipe and a Classic White Russian is that we swap out the vodka in the classic and use creme de menthe instead.

Both are equally delicious and you can absolutely choose which one you’d like to make!

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • You can substitute the heavy cream with milk or half and half as well. It still should provide a richness that this recipe needs.
  • You can up the amount of alcohol in the recipe to compensate on how strong of flavors you’d like.
  • You can serve this stirred or unstirred, we serve both ways its more of a personal preference.
  • The ways to get it layered is too actually pour your cream over the top of a spoon and it will give that layering effect.
  • Freeze some coffee in ice cube trays and use that as your ice so it doesn’t get watered down!

This Thin Mint White Russian is such fun holiday recipe that you can serve to your guests other ways you can garnish it include:

  • Peppermint stick
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Thin mint cookie on side of glass
  • Crushed up peppermint candy on top
  • Andes mint candy on side of glass

Those are just a few suggestions that we have tried ini the past, but you can make it look however you want it too!

I used brewed coffee instead of coffee liquor because I only had creme de menthe on hand, but it was still pretty good! Will make again.
