Why I love this Starbuck's copycat

I LOVE drinking tea. In the summer, I do prefer a cold iced tea but without cafeine.

A couple of years ago I was wandering the aisles at Target and was looking at the herbal tea section. That's where I fist saw Tazo Iced Passion tea. An FYI, you can buy really large tea bags like the one below (for pitchers) or smaller ones meant for cups.

Ingredients

Starbucks passion tea lemonade (Copycat recipe) (2)

3 regular sized Tazo passion tea bags
3 cups boiling water
3 cups lemonade
(optional simple syrop or honey as sweetener)

Instructions

Step 1
Boil 3 cups of water (measure using a traditional liquid measuring cup). Pour water into a pitcher that can handle boiling water. Add 3 teabags and steep for 5 minutes.

Step 2
Remove the tea bags. Let the tea sit for approximately 10 minutes to cool down. If you wish to add optional sweeenetener, this is when you would do so. I find it is sweet enough from the lemonade.

Step 3
Add 3 cups of lemonade to the pitcher. If serving all of the iced tea with lemonade, add ice to the pitcher. If not serving all of it right away, add ice to individual glasses then top with the passion tea and lemonade mixture.

If you would like to garnish, I would suggest slices or wedges of lemonade. It looks sooooooo good!

Yummm!

For me, the lemonade adds enough sweetness to this beverage. Just like in an Arnold Palmer (regular iced tea and lemonade) the lemonade adds the perfect sweetness. However, if you want it sweeter, by all means, add a little sweetener.

One little tip. I LOVE using these 12 oz mason jars to drink out of. They are a perfect size, especially when you want iced beverages.

FAQs

What kind of sweetener can I use if I'd like my drink sweeter?

I would recomend simple syrup. If you don't have that on hand, just add some sugar while the tea is still hot and the sugar will dissolve. If you have a different favorite sweetener, go ahead and add it.

I have other fruity teas at home. Can I substitute the tea?

Of course you can! This would be delicious using a raspberry flavored tea.
