Jeder Schüler kennt es: Ab und zu gibt es Aufgaben, die man einfach nicht lösen kann. Hier schafft die Google-App Socratic Abhilfe: Mittels Fotos lassen sich Rechen- und Textaufgaben einscannen und per App lösen sowie erklären lassen. Nun hat die App ein Update erhalten.
Das Szenario dürfte jedem Schüler bekannt vorkommen: Man sitzt schon eine Ewigkeit an einer Aufgabe, kann sie aber einfach nicht lösen. Das ist nicht nur ärgerlich, sondern raubt auch wertvolle Zeit. Die Lösung kommt von Google: Mit einer Gratis-App hilft der Softwaregigant bei den Hausaufgaben.
Die Basis dafür stammt von der App Socratic by Google, die der Konzern letztes Jahr übernommen hat und die für Android und iOS erhältlich ist. Schüler und Studenten, die damit arbeiten, können zum Beispiel Matheaufgaben einfach einscannen und erhalten die Lösung mitsamt hilfreichen Erklärungen. Doch damit nicht genug: Mittlerweile ist eine abgespeckte Version von Socratic auch über die Google-App verfügbar. Die App versteckt sich im integrierten Feature Google Lens unter "Hausaufgaben".
Die aktuelle Version 1.2 für Android sowie Version 5.4 für iOS kommt mit coolen Zusatzfeatures. Nun gibt es für den Kamerascan auch eine Taschenlampen-Funktion zum Scannen von Aufgaben bei schlechtem Licht, außerdem sind die Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitungen für Matheaufgaben auch auf iPhones verfügbar.

Das Funktionsprinzip der App ist schnell erklärt: Kommen Sie bei einer Aufgabe nicht weiter, fotografieren Sie diese einfach ab - schon präsentiert Ihnen Socratic zahlreiche Lösungen aus dem Internet. Die App nutzt dabei Machine Learning, sodass handgeschriebene Texte oder Spracheingaben erkannt werden können.
Seit der Übernahme durch Google bietet die App zudem ausführlichere Erklärungen, Videos und Info-Grafiken. So soll die Aufgabe nicht nur beantwortet, sondern dem Schüler auch erklärt werden. Bislang funktioniert das laut Google für Mathe, Biologie, Chemie, Physik, Geschichte und Literatur.

Must-have-App für Schüler
Die Socratic-App darf auf keinem Schüler-Handy fehlen. Besonders nach der Übernahme durch Google wurde die App stark verbessert. Denn bislang - in der Android-Version noch bis Herbst - wurde die Aufgabe abfotografiert und per Websuche gelöst. Für Schüler mag das zwar praktisch sein, verstehen werden Sie die Hausaufgabe aber dennoch nicht.
Die ausführlichen Erklärungen zur jeweiligen Aufgabe helfen Schülern dabei, die Aufgabe auch wirklich zu verstehen und sich besser auf Klausuren vorbereiten zu können. Damit wird Socratic zu einem starken Helfer, insbesondere für Schüler. Die sollten die App auf jeden Fall einmal ausprobieren.
