Many college football fans felt Florida State was wronged at the end of the last season, whether they believed it was the right decision or not. FSU was the undefeated ACC Champions and yet, the Seminoles weren't selected to play in the College Football Playoff, in large part due to star quarterback Jordan Travis' season-ending injury. Florida State then lost by 60 points to Georgia, which justified the decision to some but not to all. Florida State lost a great deal of talent and had its first chance in Week 0 to showcase it can still compete with the best. However, it didn't go well as FSU was upset by Georgia Tech, 24-21, in Dublin, Ireland despite being double-digit favorites.

Why Florida State can cover
FSU graduated a strong senior class from its 13-1 team that won the ACC Championship team, including quarterback Jordan Travis, but it also retained some top talent and acquired reinforcements from the transfer portal. Lawrance Toafili was Florida State's second-leading rusher at 463 yards last season while averaging 6.7 yards per carry. He rushed for 32 yards on eight carries while adding three receptions for 25 yards against Georgia Tech last weekend.
Boston College ranked 110th of 133 schools in rushing yards allowed (181.4 yards per game) last season, so there could be opportunities for Toafili and Roydell Williams, who spent his previous four seasons at Alabama. It was a slow start with the loss to Georgia Tech, but Williams and Toafili have the makeup to be a top running back duo in the ACC and those signs could begin to show on Monday.See which team to pick here.
Why Boston College can cover
Boston College is coming off a 7-6 season, which was its first winning season since 2020. The Eagles haven't been able to break through that seven-win mark since 2009 despite finishing with a winning record in nine of those 15 seasons. Monday marks the beginning of the Bill O'Brien era in Boston College as the former Houston Texans and Penn State head coach takes over for Jeff Hafley, who left to become the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator.
O'Brien inherits a good amount of production from last season, including quarterback Thomas Castellanos, top running back Kye Robichaux and top receiver Lewis Bond all back this fall. Bond had 52 receptions, more than twice as many as any other pass-catcher, for 646 yards and seven of Boston College's 15 receiving touchdowns last season. Castellanos is a true dual-threat quarterback with more carries than completions in each of his final five games of last season. But a coach like O'Brien, who served as New England Patriots offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach last season, can elevate Castellanos as a passer.See which team to pick here.
