1. Dinosaur Game

One of the most classic Google Easter eggs is the Dinosaur Game. Most people may not even know it exists because it doesn’t appear until your Internet connection goes down.

Just disconnect from the Internet and search Google for anything. When the “No Internet” message appears with a cute T-rex, press your Spacebar or up arrow key on your keyboard to start the endless runner. Press the up arrow to jump over obstacles and see how long you last. You can also visit chrome://dino/ to play while online. Tap the T-rex on your phone to play.

2. Flip a Coin or Roll a Die

Can’t make a decision? Let Google do it for you. As one of the more useful Easter eggs Google has hidden, either flip a coin or roll a die to make any decision. Roll six different types of dice and even roll a set number of times. Of course, the rolling die Easter egg is also great for games.

Open Google search and search for roll a die or flip a coin to instantly bring up the tool. If you expand Tools just below either option, you’ll see even more Google tools to help you out.

3. The Answer to Life

For any fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, you already know the answer to life. But, it never hurts to Google it. As a nod to the infamous book, try searching Google for answer to life the universe and everything.

A calculator appears showing that the answer is indeed 42. It’s not a useful a Easter egg, but it’s still fun.

4. The Last of Us

I’m always excited to find pop culture Google Easter eggs and if you loved playing The Last of Us or watching the new TV show, you’ll love this. Search Google for the last of us. Then, click the mushroom that appears at the bottom of the screen. It sometimes blends in, so look carefully in the bottom center.

When you click it, cordyceps start appearing all over the screen. The more you click it, the more that appear. It’s actually a great way to create a custom desktop or mobile wallpaper by taking a screenshot.

5. Google Doodles

One of the most popular Easter eggs Google cleverly hides is the doodle. Sometimes, those cute pictures above the search bar are actually games. If you don’t want to have to visit Google every day and randomly click on images, just search for Google doodles.

This displays a random Google Doodle game. You never know which one you might get, which is the whole point. If you find one you like, just remember the name to find it again later. Find every Google Doodle (interactive and static) on the Google Doodle site.

6. Tuner and Metronome

I’m putting these two Google Easter eggs together since they’re both perfect for musicians. Typing either google tuner or google metronome in the search gives you a tuner or metronome.

These are simple tools, but they work well to help you tune your guitar, or other instrument, and keep to a set beat. Of course, some people love meditating to the rhythmic ticking of a metronome too.

7. I’m Feeling Curious

Want to learn some random facts or maybe become the next Jeopardy GOAT? Try typing I’m feeling curious into Google search. Enjoy a completely random fact. You’ll get something new every time you search.

Please note that some people have trouble getting this one to work. Both this one and fun facts have glitched since around 2019. However, I’ve had no issues with “I’m feeling curious.”

8. Anagram

Google gets a bit literal when you search for anagram. While you get results about what an anagram is, Google also gives you an anagram of the word “anagram.”

Try it yourself. Search for anagram and Google asks “did you mean: nag a ram.” Search for define anagram and Google asks if you mean “nerd fame again.” And, if you needed an anagram of anagram, you’re now all set. If you love word games, check out these Wordle alternatives.

9. Sonic and Mario

Any fans of Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros. will love Google’s nod to both games. Start by searching for sonic the hedgehog. Click or tap the small sonic in the card to the right of the results and watch him spin around.

Or, search for super mario bros. Click the block in the card to the right and enjoy the nostalgic coin sounds from the game. Click as much as you want to annoy everyone around you or make everyone want to play Mario.

10. 3D Easter Egg

Love math, especially graphing? Try the 3D Easter egg. It’s probably one of my favorite Google Easter eggs. All you have to do is input an equation and Google pops up a multi-color 3D egg that seems to float in the search results.

Copy and paste the following into a Google search or just click here:

1.2+(sqrt(1-(sqrt(x^2+y^2))^2) + 1 - x^2-y^2) * (sin (10000 * (x*3+y/5+7))+1/4) from -1.6 to 1.6

If you think that looks cool, try the Valentine’s Day heart, which works similarly. Search for the following equation or click here to see a blue heart:

sqrt(cos(x))cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5

Bonus: Make Google Search Do Tricks

If you’d like your search results page to perform a few tricks, try searching for the following:

 • Barrel roll – Makes the results page do a barrel roll
 • Askew – Turns the results askew
 • DART Mission – Causes a satellite to crash into an asteroid (ode to NASA’s DART mission)
 • Google gravity – Type this into the search and press I’m feeling lucky and watch as gravity pulls the results to the bottom.

When you’re done playing with the various Google Easter eggs and games, spend some time playing board games online with friends. Or, try out these free RPGs.
